Medicare provides many services for those who are eligible. Some of the most utilized Medicare services are the ones that fall under the category of preventative care. If you are on Medicare you are probably eligible for services such as having a mammogram done. Because nearly every woman is at risk for this disease, Medicare offers screening services such as mammogram's and digital technologies. Medicare allows each woman participating in the program to get a yearly mammogram done if they are enrolled in the Medicare Service and are over the age of forty. Medicare also pays for the test for women with Medicare between ages 35 and 39.
Another Medicare service covered for preventative care is flu, pneumococcal, and Hepatitis B shots. Medicare suggests that all adults 65 and older should get flu and pneumococcal shots. Medicare coverage for Flu vaccines are allowed once a year for all people with Medicare Part B and there is usually no cost to the client.
As a Medicare recipient you may also receive services from a medical nutrition therapist. This service is offered to those who suffer from diabetes or renal disease, and if their doctor deems it necessary. The services will be provided by a dietitian who is registered or a nutritionist. They will help you manage your diabetes or kidney disease. You can receive this service for three hours the first year. If your condition requires that you need more hours, you may be approved for this .
Medicare also covers bone mass measurements to determine whether you are at risk for a fracture. Bone mass measurement test results will help your doctor choose the best way to keep your bones strong. This service is covered once every two years or more if deemed necessary by your physician. Any person receiving Medicare services are eligible for this service.
Medicare services also include testing for Glaucoma. Because having regular eye exams are a good way to prevent Glaucoma, Medicare services include one visit every year in the plan. Anyone who is at risk for developing glaucoma is eligible.
When you are deemed eligible for Medicare services you will receive a physical exam. The exam will include a thorough review of your health history, and it will be explained to you how to utilize the preventative health options available to you.Your doctor will check to make sure that you are up-to-date with preventive screenings and services such as cancer screening and shots. Your doctor will also give you advice to help you prevent disease and how to stay well. In order to utilize this Medicare service you must make an appointment within twelve months of being approved for Medicare.
