Doughnut hole must be eliminated
As a senior citizen who also is licensed Pennsylvania insurance agent specializing in senior health insurance programs, I can personally attest to the need to terminate the doughnut hole concept.
This concept has been flawed from the very beginning, in that it terminates drug coverage when it is most needed.
For some, they are in the doughnut hole a few short months and are on their own for the rest of the year.
For others, if they do not use many prescriptions, then they may not ever get into the doughnut hole. So, the worse your health, the quicker you run out of prescription coverage.
That is upside-down logic and the doughnut hole must be written out of the Part D law, the sooner the better.
